Utility Baler

Classification:  Non-Exempt

Reports to:  Production Supervisor

Job Summary:

The purpose of this position is to keep the work area clean and organized while supporting all the production team members with work flow and removal/replacement of bin, carts, hangers or racks. In addition, this team member has been properly trained to utilize the baler.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Empties trash as it accumulates
  • Removes empty carts while replacing them with full carts as needed by the sorters.
  • Moves non-sellable items to either the baler or trash
  • Assists drivers with unloading
  • Assists customers with furniture loading 
  • Produces bales as needed
  • Maintains a clean and organized work station
  • Regularly meets the production goals of the position as outlined by the company
  • Follow all safety guidelines and procedures
  • Provides friendly and courteous service in all interactions with customers

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate with other team members
  • Must demonstrate an attention to detail and keep records as required
  • Good eye-hand coordination to sort, grasp, hang or reroute product
  • May be required to perform in an alternate role at the request of the supervisor
  • Must be able to operate the baler safely and per company operation procedures
  • Must follow all protocols and requirements for safe operation of the forklift per company operational procedures

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting and carrying 50 lbs.
  • Reaching overhead 60% of time
  • Pushing and pulling 4-6 lbs. of force (to push/pull up to 100 lbs. rolling rack)
  • Pushing and pulling 50% of time
  • Standing 100% of time
  • Repetitive use of hands 80% of time
  • Bending and crouching 20% of time
  • Grasping items with hands 100% of time

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to periodic temperature fluctuations
  • Exposure to dust
  • Flexibility with schedule based up store needs and sale days
  • May be required to perform in an alternate role at the request of the supervisor

Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree, GED or equivalent work experiences.
  • Must be at least 22 years of age or older
